Crunchy, light, and delicious, granola is one of those foods that can be reinvented in seemingly endless variations. And if you've never made your own granola, you're in for a treat!
Having batches of home-made granola on hand is perfect for when you need a healthy breakfast, a quick mid-day snack, or tasty nourishment on the go. It's also ideal for day hikes, camping trips, and long rides in the car, especially if you're traveling with hungry kids.
Making granola is as easy as mixing ingredients in a bowl, spreading them on a baking sheet, and popping it in the oven. And compared to store-bought granola, making your own recipes offers a much more affordable option.
The best part is getting to play with your ingredients and add your own flair to create a granola you love.
That's exactly how this flavorful spiced granola came about—by experimenting with adding our new Chai Spiced Ghee—and the result just happens to be a new favorite recipe!
The Perfect Kapha-Balancing Granola for Spring
In Ayurveda, the spring season is associated with kapha dosha because it shares similar moist, heavy, cool, and unctuous qualities. During this time, it's recommended to enjoy foods with opposite qualities to support a healthy balance within the body. Enter granola!
Granola's light, dry texture makes it a perfect choice for spring, especially with the addition of warming spices.
In this recipe, Chai Spiced Ghee brings a delicious kick of cinnamon and cardamom to the mix and the additional sprinkle of warming cinnamon powder makes it even more balancing to kapha.
Feel free to adjust the ingredients listed here to suit your preferences, remembering that granola making leaves ample room to play with different variations.
You can also prepare your granola in different ways depending on the weather or your constitution. For example, enjoy it with warm oat milk or stewed apples during cool weather and milk or yogurt on warm, sunny days.
