About Organic Bitter Melon Seeds
About Organic Bitter Melon Seeds
Bitter melon is a tropical vine with a bold personality and an even bolder flavor. Its green, ridged fruits bring a complex bitterness to stir-fries, curries, and soups, making it a beloved culinary ingredient in kitchens across the world, as well as a traditional herbal ally in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine.
Every seed purchase supports regenerative agriculture and restoration of wild spaces.
Planting
Planting
Start seeds indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost, or directly in the garden once frost danger has passed. Seeds typically sprout within 7–14 days.
Bitter gourd thrives in full sun. Plant 18–36 inches apart, with something sturdy to climb.
Growing & Harvesting
Growing & Harvesting
The vine loves the long, warm days of summer to fuel its growth. It will begin to bloom within 50–70 days of planting.
Harvest the fruit when it’s still young, around 8–12 inches long, for the most manageable bitterness and a crisp texture. Regular harvesting will encourage more production.
To save seeds for future planting, allow a few fruits to ripen fully on the vine before removing and cleaning the seeds.
