Organic Cayenne Pepper Seeds

Red rocket (Capsicum annuum) is an exceptionally flavorful cayenne chili pepper that produces slender bright red peppers with both sweetness and heat. Highly prolific, this variety can be harvested throughout the growing season and enjoyed fresh or dried.

Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last expected frost, planting seeds ¼ inch deep in a seed-starting mix. Germination typically occurs in 7–21 days.

Once seedlings send out their first true leaves, transfer to 3–4 inch pots. Water well, allowing soil to dry out between waterings.

Cayenne peppers thrive in full sun, warm temperatures, and well-drained soil. Space plants 12–18 inches apart in rows 24–36 inches apart. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering. Provide a stake or cage to support the plants once they begin to grow.

Harvest 70–80 days after transplanting, when peppers turn a deep red color and have a firm texture. The peppers can be picked at any stage, but they are hottest when fully ripened. Use fresh, or dry on a string or with a dehydrator for long-term storage.
