Education and Experience

Vrinda has extensively studed Ayurveda under Vasant Lad, MASc at the Ayurvedic Institute. She furthered her studies in Ayurvedic women's health with travels in Nepal with Dr. Sarita Shrestha.

Vrinda's Point of View

How has Ayurveda changed your life?

Without Ayurveda, I would be totally vata'd out—probably would still be throwing my back out multiple times a year and suffering from a serious case of sciatica. But beyond the physical, my eyes have been opened to a way of seeing the human body as a whole unit and how it does not end just at the physical boundaries of the skin. I now see how the body is in constant interaction with its environment, other souls, and, most importantly, the mind and spirit.

When are you most likely to go out of balance and how do you bring yourself back to balance using Ayurveda?

While I am predominantly pitta, I find my vata is the first to go awry—extremely quickly and easily. This is especially true when I travel or when I am on call overnight. My vata cure: keeping my digestive fire strong with ginger and I Travel Well, doing a grounding yoga practice (I always travel with my yoga mat!), daily abhyanga followed by an Ayurvedic enema and a hot bath, and, without fail, a good nap or sleeping in until I can sleep no more.
